ren C:WindowsSoftwareDistribution SoftwareDistribution.old

ren C:WindowsSystem32catroot2 Catroot2.old

At this point, you should restart the BITS, Cryptographic, MSI Installer and Windows Update Services. Here, you need to write the below commands and then press ENTER key after each one.

net start wuauserv

net start cryptSvc

net start bits

net start msiserver

At last, you need to write Exit in the Command Prompt windows and then just try to install the updates.

4. Delete C:$WINDOWS.~BT folder:

First of all, you should go to View tab and then check Hidden items. After this, you should Delete the C:$WINDOWS.~BT folder.

5. Run SFC and DISM Scans:

The customer should open Command Prompt as administrator. Now, you need to input sfc /scannow and then hit Enter in order to run this command. This scan will take 15 minutes, so you should not interrupt it. When the SFC scan finished, then check the issue is solved or not. If you cannot run SFC scan, then you should use DISM scan.

For this, begin Command Prompt as administrator. Now, you should enter DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth and then run the command.

Now, the DISM scan start and it will take up to 20 minutes.

6.  Change Windows Update Settings:
